The Chair has announced the first edition of the Videos for Equality competition, an initiative aimed at schools in Galicia with the goal of promoting gender equality in the field of ICT from an early age.

The competition is open to students in the 1st and 2nd years of secondary education (ESO) and encourages participating teams to submit creative audiovisual pieces that challenge gender stereotypes and highlight the role of women in the technology sector. Each school may submit one or more entries created by different student groups, provided they comply with the competition guidelines.

Submitted videos must be original, have a maximum duration of three minutes, and be designed for distribution on social media. The content may address topics such as educational choices, access to technology, responsible use of social media, or young women’s future expectations, among other related issues.

The entries will be evaluated by a jury made up of members of the ALDABA-WIB Chair’s management team, who will assess criteria such as originality, message quality, technical execution, and the use of an equality-focused and inclusive language approach. The winning video will receive a prize of €1,000, to be used for the purchase of books and/or IT equipment.

The submission deadline is March 25, and the award ceremony will take place at the winning school, on a date close to the International Girls in ICT Day, celebrated on April 23.

Through this initiative, the Chair strengthens its commitment to raising awareness and encouraging technological vocations among young women, promoting education as a key driver towards a more diverse and inclusive ICT sector.

The guidelines and registration are available on the Chair’s website (wib.aldaba.es).
