On Tuesday, March 7, the University of A Coruña organized a colloquium on women’s work in the technological field to celebrate International Women’s Day, in line with the United Nations theme “For an inclusive digital world: innovation and technology for gender equality.”
The Vice-Rector for Equality, Culture, and Sport at the Universidade da Coruña, Cristina López Villar, opened the event on Tuesday, March 7, at 12:00 p.m. in the graduation hall of the Faculty of Computer Science.
Next, the 8M manifesto prepared by the Network of Gender Equality Units for University Excellence was read. Next, a colloquium on “Women’s Work in the Technological Field” began, in which topics concerning the current situation of women workers in this area and future challenges were discussed. The following participated in this colloquium: Virginia Mato Abad and Beatriz Pérez Sánchez from the Faculty of Computer Science; Margarita Novales Ordax from the Higher Technical School of Civil Engineering; and Rocío Alfonso Pita and Montserrat Fernández Casal from the UDC’s Information Technology and Communications Service.
In addition, more activities were held at various centers.
