Once the registration for ALDABA-TIC Camp, the summer technology camp at the UDC, has closed, the list of valid applications received will be published. Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the places will be allocated by lottery. Children born between 2013 and 2019 will come together with one mission: “Save Terra.” The aim of this initiative is to encourage an interest in technology at an early age, especially among girls, and to facilitate the development of technical skills specific to the ICT world in an enjoyable way.
The camp, organized by ALDABA WIB Chair, responds to one of its main objectives: to contribute to gender equality in ICT degrees. For this reason, priority is given to girls at this camp, with 80% of places reserved for them. According to data from the BBG-TIC (Barometer of the Gender Gap in ICT studies) – a free web tool developed by the ALDABA-WIB Chair, which incorporates new data on enrollment and academic results for the Computer Engineering Degree in A Coruña and Ourense – the percentage of women choosing this degree is around 16%. These figures are better in the case of degrees in Data Science and Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, but they are still far from what society needs to benefit from the talent that women bring to the ICT field.
In A Coruña, the camp will be held at the Faculty of Computer Science of the University of A Coruña in two shifts: the first will be from June 23 to 27, 2025 (except for the 24th, which is a holiday) and the second from June 30 to July 4 (30 places per shift). The hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with optional early bird services (8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.) and lunch (2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.).
In Ourense, the camp will be held at the School of Computer Engineering on the Ourense Campus during the week of June 23 to 27, 2025. The hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with optional early bird services (8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.) and lunch (2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.).
The list for both A Coruña and Ourense can be found on the website. Applications are listed in order of registration. The second column shows the ID number of the parent who registered the child in the following format *1234**, followed by the participant's name. In the case of applications for two or three siblings, there is a row for each child.
