The ALDABA-WIB Chair is collaborating once again in the Internship and Employment Fair (FePEfic 2024), organized by the Faculty of Computer Science of the UDC on April 23, 24, and 25, with the participation of some twenty companies from the ICT sector.
The Internship and Employment Fair is an event aimed at students who will be doing curricular internships in the next academic year. In the fifth edition, the Aldaba-WIB Chair will have an information stand on the morning of Thursday, April 25, to provide guidance to students.
In addition, during the Fair, the three finalists for the Ninth FIC Award for Best Applied Final Degree Project, selected by the companies that support the chairs, will be presented, and on April 25 at 1:00 p.m., the winner of this edition will be announced.
The three finalists are: “Automatic detection of Alzheimer's disease from retinal OCT images in PS19 tau transgenic mice,” by Pedro Redondo; “Amosando o Lado Escuro das redes sociales: desenvolvemento do primeiro corpus en lingua galega para a detección de misoxinia en Twitter e Mastodon” (Amosando or The Dark Side of Social Networks: Development of the First Corpus in the Galician Language for the Detection of Misoxinia on Twitter and Mastodon), by Lucía María Álvarez; and “Paralelización dun algoritmo de aprendizaxe automática multi-vista baseado en grafos” (Parallelization of a Multi-View Machine Learning Algorithm Based on Graphs), by Jesús Mosteiro.
The NTT Data, ALDABA-WIB, and CICAS (Sngular-CoruNet) chairs sponsor this annual award, which is supported by the ICT Research Center (CITIC) and the University of A Coruña Foundation. The winner receives €1,500 and the two runners-up receive €500 each. This year, the winners were chosen from among fifteen entries, all of which were final-year projects with honors in the 2022/23 academic year.
