The ALDABA WIB Chair was one of five chairs from the University of A Coruña selected to give a more detailed presentation of its experience and working methods at the UDC Conference on Chairs and Institutional Classrooms, which took place on Friday, April 26, at the University of A Coruña Rectorate.
At the meeting, which was attended by representatives of the 27 business chairs and one institutional classroom of the UDC, in addition to analyzing the work carried out by these chairs, opportunities and synergies to be explored in the field of teaching and research were discussed. In this regard, new formats for contributing talent from the university to the company were explained, such as industrial doctorates, where doctoral students can join organizations or other institutions for a minimum of 18 months and participate in an industrial research project.
Similarly, microcredentials were presented as new formats for continuing education, which aim to promote employability and improve adaptability to the rapid social changes we are undergoing. This new training format is already being developed at the UDC as a pilot project within the framework of the INADE Foundation Chair.
The conference was chaired by the rector of the UDC, Ricardo Cao, who closed the event by highlighting the importance of chairs and institutional classrooms “for their dynamic role in the transfer of knowledge and applied research in different productive sectors, while promoting the interrelation of different social agents and fostering cooperation between different areas of knowledge and team building.” He was accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Degrees and Internationalization and former Director of the Emalcsa Chair, Moisés Canle; the Vice-Rector for Research and Transfer, Jerónimo Puertas; and the Vice-Rector for the Ferrol Campus, Ana Ares.
The president of the Social Council of the UDC, Antonio Abril, also participated in the closing of the conference, pointing out, among other things, the need for “greater collaboration between universities and companies.”
