The director of the UDC Chair, Virginia Mato, participated on June 21 in the closing ceremony of the Inspira STEAM Coruña 2023 program held at CITIC. The Inspira STEAM educational program, promoted by the University of Deusto and coordinated in A Coruña by researcher Verónica Bolón, aims to foster scientific and technological vocations among students, especially girls.
The closing ceremony featured remarks by María José Lombardía, Vice-Rector for Students, Participation, and Employability at the UDC; Fernando Suárez, President of the Galician Professional Association of Computer Engineering (CPEIG); Luis Hervella, Director of the NTT Data Chair; Manuel G. Penedo, Director of CITIC; and Verónica Bolón, coordinator of this initiative. The roundtable "Gender Gap in STEM Studies" was also held, featuring Virginia Mato, director of the ALDABA WIB Chair at the UDC, presenting the results of the BBG-TIC project; Teresa Piñeiro, director of the UDC’s Center for Gender and Feminist Studies; and María Carnero, president of AMIT Galicia.
