Next Wednesday, November 11, at 5:00 PM, the presentation of the Inspira Steam 2020–2021 project, organized by the Vice-Rectorate for Student Recruitment, Students, and University Outreach of the University of Vigo, will take place via the University’s Campus Remoto virtual platform.
Inspira STEAM is a pioneering project that seeks to foster an interest in science and technology among girls, based on awareness-raising and guidance activities thru six workshop-style sessions led by professional women in research, science, and technology for sixth-grade girls and boys.
The project was launched at the University of Deusto in 2016, and the University of Vigo joined in 2018, when the first edition was held in the province of Pontevedra. Given the high level of interest and participation they are generating, this year (2020–2021) we are launching the third edition of Inspira STEAM Pontevedra and the first edition of Inspira STEAM Ourense.
At the presentation event, we will provide you with a detailed overview of the project, its evolution, its phases, and how to participate—whether as a mentor or as an educational center—as well as how to register for the mentor training session scheduled for November 18.
The health crisis we are experiencing highlights the relevance of science and technology in our lives and offers us a great opportunity to promote STEM among young people, especially girls, and to show how they help us tackle society’s big and small challenges. Therefore, and in order to attract the largest possible number of mentors and educational centers willing to participate in this edition.
