On October 24, 2023, Virginia Mato, director of the Chair at the UDC, participated in the 321st episode of the radio program “A fume de Carozo” on Cuac FM, discussing academic and professional guidance for computer engineering and related degrees. The program, which has been broadcast weekly since May 5, 2009, is promoted by the Galician Language Promotion Team of the Calasanz School (PP. Escolapios) in A Coruña.

This episode was the first dedicated to academic and career guidance, specifically to the presence of women in technological careers such as Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science and Engineering. Its objective is to provide the best possible guidance to students, mainly high school students, in the different decisions they must make in the academic and professional fields and to encourage girls to consider computer science as a profession. The program was presented by the following 12th-grade students: Alba García Calvete, Sara Sánchez González, Alba Seijas Lomba, and Laura Teresa Varela Lema. They interviewed professors from the UDC's Faculty of Computer Science, the co-director of the Aldaba-WIB Chair at the Universities of Coruña and Vigo, Virginia Mato Abad, and the coordinator of the UDC's Artificial Intelligence Degree, Berta Guijarro.

During the interview, they discussed women's technological vocations, the differences and career opportunities offered by the various degrees, and their personal experiences. Both professors agree that they would study the same degree again if they had the opportunity. To conclude the interview, Virginia Mato highlighted that once students have completed their undergraduate studies at the UDC, there is a wide variety of master's and postgraduate degrees available, allowing them to specialize in very different sectors or fields.
