The ALDABA WIB: Women, ICT & Business Chair works to break gender stereotypes and empower girls to decide what to study by providing them with comprehensive and realistic information about the computer engineering profession. In the video, recorded in 2021, successful women in the field of ICT recount their experiences, dismantling the prejudices surrounding STEAM careers.
To mark International Day of Women and Girls in Science, on February 11, 2021, the Chair published this video, in which Alma Gómez Rodríguez, professor at the Higher School of Engineering in Ourense and co-director of the Chair, encourages girls to study computer science.
BBG-TIC project
The Gender Gap Barometer in ICT Studies (BBG-TIC), developed by the ALDABA-WIB Chair, aims to facilitate the analysis and comprehensive monitoring of the evolution over time of the presence of women in ICT degrees at the universities of A Coruña and Vigo, with constantly updated information and multiple classification and filtering criteria.
VisibilizaTIC Talks
Aware that high school is a crucial stage for vocational development, the Chair organizes guidance talks in schools in Ourense, A Coruña, and the surrounding areas. These are aimed at 11th and 12th grade students, especially those studying “Science and Technology,” with the goal of promoting interest in technology and computer science among students, particularly female students.
Information Pills
Another of the pillars considered fundamental by the Chair is raising awareness about gender equality. To this end, we publish short informative “pills” on topics related to equality that may be of interest, emphasizing that the objective is not to express opinions or perceptions, but rather to encourage reflection and generate conversation.
